Coastal Georgia Military Monitoring Recap; December 2025
December was another month with limited radio time, but unlike October and November, it was a productive monitoring month. Even with military aviation activity curtailed due to the Christmas and New Years holidays, there was still plenty to hear. It's been quite awhile since all three squadrons of the 20th Fighter Wing have been home at Shaw AFB, but they are now and I heard quite a bit from them. The Washington DC Air National Guard F-16s are still at Savannah-Hilton Head IAP and I caught a couple of foreign Air Force Gulfstreams arriving there for the Gulfstream Service Center. The Florida Air National Guard F-35s were very active throughout the month and I was able to hear that they're still using the same frequencies that they were using when they flew F-15s. Right Whale calving season is underway (roughly November through April) and on several occasions, from Beaufort down to Brunswick, I heard Marine VHF Channel 1082 being used for Right Whale survey and spotting activity. If you live along the coast, you might want to program it in if it's not already and see what there is to hear.
